Marathon of drawing

The Marathon of Drawing is based on a concept similar to a sculpture symposium, bringing artists together in one location for a specific period to collaborate on their art. Instead of simply assembling finished pieces for an exhibition, the temporary studio community aims to foster an intensive exchange between the artists and their work. This insight into the processes behind the artworks creates a deeper understanding and promotes respect for each other's perspectives. Visitors have the opportunity to observe the artistic creations in progress. They can interact with the artists, follow their work processes, and gain an impression of what happens before finished works are presented in exhibitions.

Furthermore, the marathon aims to give drawing a fitting platform as an independent artistic genre. It presents a wide variety of drawing approaches that differ in material, method, and intention, but all share one important aspect: Here, drawing does not serve a subservient function; it is not a sketch preceding a painting or a plan preceding a sculpture, but rather claims its own equal place alongside other genres of visual art.
