EMAF 2026: Festival Section Campus

The EMAF Campus festival section offers a platform to classes and subject groups from European academies and universities. The students present their work with exciting film programs and diverse exhibitions. The students' contributions can be discovered not only in the art space hase29, but also in the festival cinemas and at various locations in Osnabrück's city center.

Voice in the Body / Merle Thordis

Every second we experience life with all our senses – in space and time.

In musical expression, such as singing or even conscious listening, every person perceives sounds and noises with different intensity.

We use a variety of neutral resources to make intelligent behavioral decisions in a constantly changing world that we cannot fully control.

Music evolves through our attention, and our intuition gives it energy.

Then: my breath, my vocal cords, resonance chambers, my body – the sound.

A sound is produced. A noise.

A sound in space, in time.

Different people, different bodies – sounds in the room resonate together, influence and inspire each other.

They become an expression of intuition in a space shaped by people, machines, animals, technology and nature.

Let us sharpen our attention to the space around us and within us.

Let's embark on a small, experimental journey together –

and experience how we, the space, and our sound interact with each other,

how we sound, resonate, and have an impact together.

We invite you to a shared vocal practice (open to all levels), led by Merle Thordis, who works as a singer, choir director and performance artist.
